Driving Directions

I document moments in time, to preserve those images that are here today and may be gone tomorrow. Trees, leaves, animals, wild and domestic are the focus of my work. As each season regenerates and every animal prepares for the season ahead I try to capture the feeling of that event. Using papermaking, printmaking and drawing techniques I create paper pieces that reflect a feeling of environment, along with the realistic images that represent nature. Embedding, these works in handmade paper as two-dimensional wall pieces or creating artist made books taken to a sculptural level. Many of the, paper-pieces, are created using acid free recycled papers.

The, bases of all my work, prints, illustrations, even painting is seen through drawing. I use graphite, pastels and charcoal. My, illustrations of trees reflect the detail of the textural bark and the fine lines of the leaves. I am, drawn to detail, as seen in the illustrations of the animals I portray. I want the feathers or the fur of the animals to make you want to reach out and touch them. As my work grows, I feel I am more of a mixed media artist. Combining prints, drawings and paper making to accomplish not only the technical results but to reflect my beliefs of protecting the environment.
