Reaching Out

"Reaching Out" is not only the title of this painting but what we all are feeling these days. We have been reaching out to family and friends via computers, phones and sometimes even writing a personal note to mail. This year has been one of trying to connect without actually physically reaching out to humans. Some days I feel like I am making that connection through my art, I have been close to being in the flow. A place you go when you are absorbed with the work you are creating.

The octopus still has me telling stories. Not only of dealing with the past but looking towards the future. Reaching out looking to the changes that are coming in our life, our world. There is light above us, the sky is bluer, and the waters a little clearer. I think this octopus is still trying to guide me out of darkness, bring new color to my palette and explore opportunities when they are presented.

"Reaching Out" is a oil painting done on 12"X36" cradled wood panel. She is the second in a series. There is another direction I will be pushing this image before too much longer. More to come on that soon...
